The importance of being familiar with the laws and policies that are place in order to put students in safe work settings cannot be understated. I like the idea of having a vetting form to serve as a standard, helping ensure students are protected.

Managing risk is not just about avoiding accidents or legal issues, but about creating a safer and more professional environment overall.  I gained a better understanding of how policies, supervision, communication & proper documentation all playa role in protecting both individuals & organizations

I learned that safety, labor laws and clear communication are a big part of being a WBL coordinator not just placing students at jobs. I plan to use this doing site checks when possible, and making sure both students and employers clearly understand expectations before the placement starts.

This module reminded me how important it is to be proactive about safety, documentation, and clear expectations. I plan to tighten up training agreements, communicate more with partners, and make sure students are fully prepared before entering any work-based learning placement.

Liability is an ongoing conversation and has the attention of school districts and community partners.  The distinction between paid vs unpaid experiences is helpful.

It is essential to vet businesses to minimize liability risks when placing students in WBL environments.  Equally important is ensuring that WBL coordinator is knowledgeable about current laws and regulations governing youth participation in WBL experiences.  This module provided several links and resources to support this process.

I believe many businesses write off hiring students due to potential liability concerns, so it is important for WBL coordinators to provide them with accurate information.

I like the idea of a vetting checklist for employers or job sites.  Could be a relatively easy template to build.  I also think that when implementing a district wide WBL structure, the liability insurance is very important and should addressed right from the start.

I will need to read over and know all applicable laws, policies, and procedures to ensure I am keeping my student safe, and the employer and school protected.
