The "Hello Zone" - An idea for Directors of First Impressions (AKA Receptionists)

If you are in the "Hello Zone" (within 10 feet) of a co-worker or student, smile and say hello. A polite greeting shows respect and kindness, which is the first step in good customer service.

Yes we are in the customer service game!!!! If we take the lead in this they will follow.  We have to practice what we preach, professionalism is what we teach, we have to practice it, if we want our grads to get jobs and maintain them.

@joep : I have to agree!  I've actually (a number of times) had students on the first day they begin one of my classes tell me that they were relieved when they saw who the teacher was because whenever I had passed the in the hall long before they were ever scheduled for my class,I'd smile and say hello (or hi...)...  and I guess a friendly ( and "somewhat" familiar) face in front of the class is a stress reducer!

Wow...I just reread this.....and I know it's WAAAAAAAAY too long a sentence!
