Leave of Absence

A school director may grant an LOA after determining a good cause is shown. Are there limitations determining what an acceptable "good cause" is?

Michael,

Thank you for your question. The usual acceptable LOA reasons are Medical (student or immediate family) and Military leave. Other types of leaves may be acceptable provided the leave is documented and signed by a school official and the student. I suggest caution that LOAs are only used for serious reasons and (generally) not to prevent a drop for a student with excessive absences or who is struggling academically. Lastly, LOAs could come under scrutiny by TWC CSC (and/or accrediting bodies) if the school has a high percentage or incidence of granting LOAs relative to the student population.
