Temporary Instructors

For school's not required to submit instructor applications, are they still required to submit notification of a temporary instructor?

Also, is there a statute of limitations that would define a temporary instructor from an adjunct faculty (e.g. 20% of the course)?

Brad,
Excellent question. The rules and TWC School Director's Resource Guide are not entirely clear on this subject. Since the penalty is severe (100% refund for students) for failure to notify TWC CSC of a temporary instructor, the safest answer is Yes - notify the TWC CSC immediately of any temporary instructors. However, the wording for this rule includes "previously unapproved" which, could mean any instructor denied approval. In theory, if you are not required to submit you could complete the TWC instructor paperwork on any adjuncts/temporaries but, if you have multiple instructors in a term, you could be in violation of the clause that states you may have only 1 temporary instructor per grading period. I know of no statute of limitations as you describe. Lastly, my safest answer is to check with your TWC CSC contact person on this question and/or any exceptional instructor situations.

For school's not required to submit instructor applications, the application must still be completed and the fee paid. Is this correct?

David,
Thank you for your question. The application must be completed and kept on file at the school. The fee is not required if the school is not required to submit the application. A fee for instructors will be due when the school's next renewal of license is due.
