New to Management

I was recently promoted to a management position in higher education. I am very new at this and would appreciate any advice anyone has to offer on effective management skills.

My best advice would be to remember how it was when you were the worker bee. Be sensitive to the needs of your employees and show them that you appreciate their hard work. Get their input as much as possible on decisions that will directly affect them. Sometimes when you get the promotion the ones you "left behind" start feeling as if you have changed for the worse. Don't let that happen to you because you don't want to lose their trust or admiration.

Lead by example, remember to become an effective manager you must e willing to listen.Provide on the spot coaching to your team. Don't be afraid to delegate task however always inspect what you expect. Have fun and enjoy what you do.
