Confirming in What I Already Know

One little point really stood out in my reading, and that is that good listening really DOES take energy. We have to focus and respond.

It takes so much energy that at times, I need to keep my focus on the individual and not on what I plan to say to them or what I am to do after class or in the evening. The key is to maintain eye control and not to wander or take your focus off the individual, they will know that you really are not actively listening.

That is very well put!

Not only takes energy, also takes a good rest, sleeping well, and eating right; all this is needed in order to stay focus!

It does take a lot of energy to listen. Especially if you are a person that is distracted easily.

this is one of the things that I try to manage on a daily basis. Listening does take energy, and when you are dealing with 25+ students, its dificult to find it for all of them.

How true this is! If I have several appointments a day, I am happily exhausted by the end of the day.

Agreed. To be able to operate at a higher level requires more energy...
