Telling yourself a story

One of the problems I find is that when you are dealing with nonverbal communication, is that it’s to easy to misinterpret the information. You begin to read between the lines and next thing you know you’re telling yourself a story with new meanings and tones.

I agree. Especially if the communicators involved come from different cultural backgrounds which have different ideas about what is considered appropriate/rude, expected or not. Some cues just mean different things to different people.

You should treat all people equally.

I'm guilty of over analysing people non verbal communication. I have to step back and remind myself that there are other factors in play that might have nothing to do with me when when I'm being talked to.
