Online Courses

How do you ensure that you're reaching each type of learner in an online environment?

LaKeisha,
Communication right up front! Right as the term starts, ask what a student likes. See if they need more resources or good to go with what you have. This is one tactic.

I thought this was a good question. What if the learner cannot verbalize his/her most effective learning style? If the learner expresses that the kinesthetic learning style works best, how can an online class provide these "hands on" experiences? I have a general idea, but I would love some specific examples. I've noticed for some learners, there is a lack of intrinsic motivation when they are online, and they need to have activities that are facilitated by an instructor and given immediate feedback.

Anna,
Depending on the topic at hand, there are many videos out there to help with someone who needs the hands on. Not just YouTube, but videos from reputable journals.
