ADDIE Model

Incorporated into this module was the ADDIE Model without the implementation stage... why? Isn't that just as important as the other stages of this model?

ISD has been around since the Army first starting using it to train technicians at the end of WWII. It seems to come and go - but it works and is re-invented every now and then. It gets repackaged (with a new copyright) and is popular again with course developers. At its root, it's still ADDIE.

Is the ADDIE Model the best model to be using or are there other newer versions that are better?

There are many models out there. The ADDIE is a great model, but research some other models.

I believe that the variant of ADDIE used here implies that implementation is not a matter of publishing but rather that it is a continual process that really does not have a solid 'phase' as such.

This would be in keeping with the RAD model of development; make something that works with the essential features, get feedback, then keep making it better essentially.

The ADDIE model is perhaps the most widely recognized and practiced ID model in the industry. That said, other ID models include the Kemp model, the Dick & Carey model, the Human Performance Technology (HPT) model, the Rodent model, Minimalist model, ASSURE model, 4C/ID model, the Gerlach and Ely ID model, et al.
