I text my students even when they are finished with my class to see how they are doing

Since most of my students think their phone is a body part it is the simplest was to get in touch with them and stay in touch with them. They will drop by the class from time to time to see me and catch up. Some students just want to be done with you when they are done with the class. Most of the time you tell who they are early on.

I like that Shelley. I keep in touch with the students for two years while they're on campus or when I see them anywhere but haven't done specific outreach actively after graduation. I accept 'Linked In' invites and such, ask them to let me know how they're doing. I think I need to be more active in outreaching after.

Dee, this outreach is part of the circle or process of teaching/learning. LinkedIn is a great tool for this purpose.

I also text and e-mail my students even after they have finished my class.

Sharika, as long as everyone agrees that this is a good expectation, it is an effective tool.
