I use mind mapping, having the students draw as a group what they have learned.

I am a firm believer of mind mapping. I saw it demonstrated very recently at a seminar and have used it since then on a few occasions. The class response was very favorable! It is a real time saver because they get the concept so much more quickly than straight memorization. I highly recommend it.

This use of a mind map is a great learner focused review of content. It also teaches team work without the learners focusing on that.

I also use mind mapping with students I believe it enables them to connect the dots.

It does allow them to see the big picture.

Linda, I'm glad mind mapping has been a tool you have used.

If it is structured right and is beneficial it is a great tool for learning

Linda what exactly is mind mapping? I have never heard of this, but sounds interesting.

I need to remember to buy cat food on my way home. To remember this I make a mental picture of my car driving on a road made of cat food.... something silly, but it makes you remember to get cat food (watch me forget) hahaha.

Asking your students to create their own mental picture is a teaching strategy that works, too.
