Group Activity Learning Games

Are games in which students remain seated been proven to be less effective? I feel some students take the opportunity to act wild when we play games when standing, how do I handle those students? What if a student refuses to play?

Phillip, if you start out an activity by demonstrating how you will get their attention back at intervals( hold up a sign, blow a whistle, etc.) then when you do it in the activity they will comply. I haven't had any overly wild people, but I find movement in class helps some students to focus and learn (the hands on people).
