The future is going to be electronic. Textbooks have already gone to downloads with access and cost 1/2 the price of print. It will be the devlopment of apps that will allow one to highlight and mark in the electronic text. The wave of the classroom is to engage through interactive presentations.

For my program, we use both I-PADS and "hard copy" textbooks. We have listened to student preferences and have abided by them.

I feel that a combination of technology (ipads) and textbooks is the way to go.  I teach emergency medical technician courses where it benefits the students to complete their assignments on the ipad but use the textbook to search for and verify information needed to complete the assignments.
