fairness and compassion in the Classroom

How do we create a classroom culture where students experiencing mental health challenges feel genuinely supported, while also ensuring the rest of the class understands that support isn’t special treatment but part of an equitable learning environment? In other words, how do we balance compassion with fairness in a way students can actually feel and understand?

I feel that we have to acknowledge mental health challenges and not be afraid of talking about it and spreading awareness in our classrooms. We have to create an environment where students feel safe and comfortable talking about these issues and learning how to treat others who may have mental challenges . We must educate how stigma can negatively impact students. Again good question.
