Reporting
Just wondering what you would recommend in this situation: a student has not officially reported a learning disability, but then mentions it to you in a casual conversation?

I suppose knowing how to proceed would depend, in part, on what the policies and procedures are as established by your institution. Is there an assigned disability service provider? If so, I would use that casual conversation as a jumping off point for encouraging the student to meet with the disability service person. I might even walk them down to the disability service office personally. If there IS no established system at your institution, I might be inclined to respond to the casual mention of LD by asking some more probing questions that might help you know how you can best assist.
