student rage

most of the student that i have had that had a anger issue usally have trigger points tha if know about can be avoided or lessoned by cheking student attiude at the begining of class

William,
Talking directly to students about how you can be supportive is always a good idea. Just be careful that such conversations are not perceived as being intrusive.

Student rage can be dangerous for everyone involed recently had a student blow up in class before the class even started for the day ...last day of the course too

Chuck,
You don't say whether the student involved in the incident had a disability or not. One of the problems in higher education today is that it only takes ONE student whose behavior is outside the bounds of acceptable to bring in to question the appropriateness to campus for ALL students whose behavior is simply "different." We need to be careful both about assumptions regarding causation and about stereotyping based on the extremes.
