I am going to make sure that all my lessons have varied instruction so that all preferred ways of learning are met. Visual, auditory and hands-on. I usually do this but I think some lessons don't have all 3.

What are some ways that you as an teacher vary your instruction?

I learned that I should have many ways to learn my material as some learn by seeing, some by listening and some by doing. I do try very hard to already implement this in my instruction but reading why it is important further validates why I do it.

I learned that it is important to remember that just because English may be their second language that does not necessarily mean that they are struggling or not literate/competent in the language. In fact, they may be better at it than some people that are English speakers.

that being "colorblind" is actually not what we should be. We should recognize and acknowledge different cultures not pretend that they don't exist. By acknowleding  them and teaching to their strengths is much more inclusive than ignoring differences.

I didn't think about gender when thinking about diversity. I usually just thought about race or ethnicity. I also realize I need to get to know my students' interests more so to tailor my instruction and increase engagement.

I have learned more about the specific learning disabilities and data behind learning disabilities. 33 percent of students with learning disabilities have an above average intelligence. We have to give all students a good opportunity to education. All students can succeed when give the accommodations needed.

People who have learning disabilities have equal rights to educate and opportunity. We just need to see what accommodation are needed to help the student advance in their educatriion.

I will take the time to meet with my students with learning disabilities to really get to know how they learn better and implement those practices into my teaching. I believe that will help all learners as well.

How have you accomodated ap bio students since the test is not one that can be modified?
