This module reminded me of the need to process out each chapter of the text to facilitate learner engagement of the material with additional learning aids, such as games and interactive activities.

Hello:

I've completed the module on incorporating games.  After reading the evidence and reviewing the examples, I am more willing to create and implement some of the suggestions.  The challenge will be to implement with a large class size from 40-52.  I can put into random groups and have them play within the group and then reconvene and discuss.  Any one with additional suggestions?

Although familiar with adult learning theories, it was a refresher to review the various concepts and reflect on how I have used them and if effective.  I took time to reflect on the reflection questions and was able to identify any resistance toward certain theoretical frameworks.  # 7 spoke about resistance students.  Historically, there were few compared to the majority being resistance based on the generational societal norms.  I realize I personally do not like games in the classroom because I do not know how to play them, especially the tech games.  This let's me know to stay relevant with… >>>

After doing this lesson I plan to go back to the practice of writing pre-planned questions in alignment with learning objectives or outcomes.  I did this at the associate degree level but not at the university level at all times.  When I am assigned a consistent course I have time to thoughtfully research and process what is the best question to ask.

It is very important to keep the bullet points to five.  Remember it is a guide to keep the instructor on track and guide the student in topics to read in their book.  It is important to have equal amounts of white space between your bullets.  Graphics should be carefully considered to reinforce the content and not be perceived as offensive. Please, do not read from power points.  If you have thought it out and prepared the slides you know your material and the content should come across as a discussion.

Twenty plus years ago when I started teaching I had a flat affect. I was shy back then and scared to be in front of a crowd.  Being a psychiatric nurse I had a standard affect for the different type of behavioral challenges we encounter as well as an affect when standing on the bus stop in a bad part of the city.  Fast forward, I secured a full time position as a psychiatric instruct at a community college.  They put us through rigorous requirements over 5 years to dig deep into introspection, reflection and getting feedback from peers on… >>>

Altlhough this information was from prior knowledge and implementation, I plan to create instructional delivery plans for the established content into 15 minutes sections of information.  I will continue to use Socratic questioning of students which facilitates an i nteractive lecture format. I do not like using the lecture but I do not lecture.  I create a story to explore focused on the nursing process.
