ED110 Stress Management

One of the courses that I currently teach is Psychology.  The one chapter that I really emphasize in the book is the one concerning stress management and coping skills.  Students need to understand primarily how to management their time and secondly how to cope with the issues that interfere with doing well academically.  I also try to convince students that once this is achieved that every other stressor in their lives can be handled in a similar fashion.

I also teach Career Development.  I spend two classes on Stress Management Organizational and Time Management skills.  I find when people learn about being organized and manage their time well; it eliviates a great deal of stress.

I enjoy teaching this course and enjoy motivating my students to be positive and stress free.

i really enjoyed this ed110, i learned alot about stress management and how stress effects us each day and what we can do to help us deal with this stress

I throughly enjoyed the examples given for each topic within this course, from the "to do" lists to the nurse's issues.

because I can relate to  many of them.  It may seem silly, but my way of reducing stress is to play word games for about 30 minutes when I get home from work.  The games  help to release the tension that has built up during the day.  Knowing how some students also feel stressed I always lend an "ear", because sometimes just having someone to listen helps to relieve the stress albeit it won't solve the problems, but the student may feel better.  This course has reenforced some of the practices I already have in place.

THe most valuable things that I learned from ED110 is the importance of to-do lists and defining personal vs. professional stress.  To-do lists have always helped me before, and I got some valuable advice on how to make then even more effective.  For defining the different types of stress, I think now more than ever that it's so important to keep your personal and professional lives separate.  When the two merge together, it can create even more stress.  I was glad to gain advice on how to handle it better, and I will be sure to practice these tipes in the future.

Stress management is key to working at a career school. There are so many things that need accomplished in such a short amount of time. I use to-do lists at home and since taking ED110, I realized that those simple organizational strategies that I use at home can also be applied at work. At work there should not be a lot of time put into an organizational strategy. Jotting down a to-do list is a great way to start managing time better, instead of trying to type everything into a calendar on your phone or PC.

When dealing with stressful situations at work or in my personal life, I beleive that a proper diet and exercise are the most beneficial to me.  I have found myself overeating or being lazy when I experience stress.  Small changes in my eating habits or getting in a short run on a regular basis works perfectly for me.  It clears my mind and allows me to focus on tasks that need to be completed and even those that have urgent time frames.  Proper diet and execise also produces more energy for me.  This allows for my work to seem simplier due to the fact that I have clearer mind.

I really enjoyed this course it allowed me to review and confirm what I knew about stress and dealing with it. It also gave me new information that will help in the future. I work in a stressful environment as most do now a days and having new ideas and information will ensure that I and others will have ways of dealing with the stress and living a healthier life... I will also share this with my students as we all know they are under a lot of stress as well.

Malerie, I not only found this cours helpful to students dealing with stress, It help me as an instructor as well. We as instructor often deal with an overwhelming amount of stress.

I really enjoyed this course because I can relate to it. It was one of the better courses given.

I just completed the course on English as a second language.  It made me stop and consider what these students are dealing with.  I am not sure that I could be successful if I had to take a course in a language that was not my first.  Kudo's to students.  Shirley Wall
