ED 105

I am still improving on my skills as an effective instructor. I still rely too heavily on power points and lecture as a teaching method. I have incorporated a couple of games into my class time however some students feel they don't have "time" to play games and just want to know what is on the test. I will be starting a new term next week and I have planned on using some video learning, group projects, and case studies.

I've not added games to my online live chat...there are online activities the students can use, but I have no idea if they actually use them.

Taking the course was a useful experience, it allowed for an effective review of the strategies employed in the classroom. In particular the discussion on formative and summative assignments were very helpful

ED 105 was a refreshing review of some fundamental concepts in planning, presentation, and evaluation of learning.  I had a discussion with peers in my department regarding management of late assignments.  My initial answer on the quiz question was that students should receive a zero if an assignment is not handed in on time,  but learned the preferred response is to inquire about the reasons for missed assignment due date.

I still disagree.  If a student has a syllabus, and has had orientation that includes the class schedule for assignments, the due dates should not be altered.  Students who do turn in work on time are at a disadvantage if special consideration is given for late assignments.
