Calling all Trainers!

If you are responsible for admissions training, how will you lead the charge to adapt to the needs of today's students while considering governmental influence and organizational goals?

Without question the admissions process will be changing.  The amount of adaptation will depend on what type of admissons processes your school has utilized in the past and what legislation mandates for the future.  Having worked for a very student focused school system for over 8 years our philosophical approach to admissions will not require an overhaul, but will need to adapt to regulatory requirements.  As information has been provided to me I have begun looking at areas that I feel will need attention.  In 2 weeks I will be training new staff and am reviewing materials to ensure I am presenting what I can now and laying the ground work for additional change in the future.

Whether your school needs sweeping change or tweeks to ensure compliance, as trainers we will be pushing out these changes to new staff and existing staff alike.  We have to ensure we are well prepared to educate, train and implement all changes as mandated.  How we prepare our admissions teams will determine how well they will be able to serve prospective students.  That is no small task!

This is so true, Wendi!  The degree of change is dependent on current approaches yet my fear is some organizations may have the pendulum swing all the way over.  We're aleady seeing many admission offices fearful of "selling" so they leave prospective students unclear and without direction.

So I'm curious, what sources are you (and others) using for information to know what to change in your training?
