Planning for learning styles

I find it easier to start with learning styles advice from the beginning. In the first class session I give a presentation on how to study Anatomy based on what learning style the student has. (They have already taken an assessment to determine that.) I offer class activities that appeal to each style. Some are required, but some are "smorgasbord" style, so that they can choose the one that helps them the most. This preempts many students from getting overwhelmed and lost by the fifth week of classes, which is what used to happen before I instituted this at the beginning of the course.

Great Information!

Thanks for the info!

I think this is an excellent way to get students understanding learning styles. Use of this at the start of courses gives the student a heads up so they do not get lost or frustrated before the tough assignments kick in.
