How Managers Help Manage Stress and Burnout!

As a manager, it is common for employees to confide in us and share their stress and seek guidance. This tutorial offered some valuable insights into managing stress effectively. While quitting or changing careers may seem like an easy way out when dissatisfied, this tutorial presents various methods for handing burnout in a more effective way.

Having realistic expectations is important. Often times, factors beyond our control, such as other departments or colleagues, contribute to the stress we experience in the workplace. Recognizing our limitations and understanding that everyone may be grappling with stress or burnout is essential. This will help us navigate conversations differently and hopefully improve the working relationship with others. Giving others grace and gratitude for what they can do.

As a manager I am looking for a proactive approach in supporting my team members through stressful situations. Below are some suggestions:

1. Encouraging employees to take breaks, use their vacation time, and have a good work life balance.

2. Encourage staff to have open communication with their direct supervisor which will help create a safe space. It can also help address the issue sooner before it becomes to difficult to manage.

3. Promoting a culture of appreciation by recognizing and shouting out staff for their hard work and contributions.
