NSLDS
I have over 9000 records to review in NSLDS on a qtrly basis. How are you able to review all of these records to avoid having a repeat error finding?
Rod,
That is a difficult issue to solve. Some clients use the Clearinghouse and the organization handles all of their reporting related to NSLDS. More and more clients are moving toward Ecodes so that the reporting of a Federal Pell disbursement under COD with the main campus Pell ID does not result in misreporting on NSLDS.

Can you further discuss the use of clearinghouse and ecodes? I'm not familiar with these.
Kerry,
General information on the National Student Clearinghouse follows:
The Clearinghouse helps educational institutions improve efficiency, reduce costs and workload, and enhance the quality-of-service they provide to their students and alumni, lending institutions, employers, and other organizations. We provide our services as an aligned agent to our participating institutions, supporting their administrative, student access, accountability, and analytical needs. Through our one-of-a-kind access to national student outcomes data and educational research services, the Clearinghouse also serves as a valuable source for longitudinal and other studies on educational progress. Additional information about their services and how to contact them may be found on their website: www.studentclearinghouse.org
ECodes are normally utilized by colleges that have branch campuses and want to report students on differently between their main and branch campuses. You may apply for an ECode through your contact for Direct Lending. These are very helpful in separating students between main and branch campuses; however, you have to careful when implementing since you may have loans originated and disbursed already under your GCode that must be finished out under the GCode. If you decide to implement an ECode I would recommend you develop a thorough Project Plan and meet with your team that handles the COD origination, disbursement and G5 draws first.
Sincerely,
Chyrl Ayers
We run the NSLDS on students coming in and completing an application. We also run one on all repacks. The NSLDS is a great source of information.
Hello,
You cannot always rely on NSLDS for the correct information, the database reports incorrect information sometimes. It also seems to take a long time to update a students information.
