Understanding your institution

It is important to understand the institution that you are selling to prospective students.

It's very important for you to know your institution's history and purpose be able to explain most if not all information regarding the college from past and leading to the present. You should know degree programs, tuition,fees and costs, application process, etc..

You should be about to tell the student if it fits the his/her needs as a student as well as goals for the future.

Having an understanding of your school helps to give credibiity when speaking to potential students and their families.

I have also found prospective students like the feel of a school when you walk down the hall and know your fellow employees. They also respond well if you know you students by name.

Education sells itself. Having a college degree makes you competitive in the job market. If you do not understand your school it can be hard to convey the postive aspects to your leads.
