Recruitment

Has anybody tried job fairs to recruit instructors and if so how did that work for you. We use career builders and I got my job from the newspaper but in a market where professionals are somewhat scarce and due to the level of pay what can be done to increase interest.

Hi Cindy

Your advisory board can be a great asset in helping to find people. Also join professional
organization and post openings through their newsletters and job boards.

However, you might need to address the pay issue. If you are not paying enough you may always have trouble finding and keeping instructors.

I think job fairs would be an excellent place to find new applicants

Job fairs have worked well for me as long as they are tailored to the type of candidates that I am looking for. I hire nursing instructors and have found that job fairs designed specifically for nurses have the best results over a general job fair.

You have a good point Michelle. Industry specific job fairs tend to be more successful. There should be plenty of educated and trained
prospects there. The demographics of these events definitely favor you. Thanks for the insight.
