I have found that casually speaking with students has given me ideas on where I want my school to go, and I have shared many of those ideas with my superiors.

We agree that getting the thoughts and ideas of many people can be a great source of ideas and innovation. Typically those involved, in one way or another with an organization, do know the issues and solutions. All you have to do is ask and create an environment where people feel free to share their thoughts with you. This is a reason why there are advisory boards. The goal is to have a board or group of people you can go do who will have different perspectives and great ideas. Thanks
