There are 2 grocery stores near my house, which are across the street from each other. Kroger has excellent quality at discounted prices. Publix has excellent quality at slightly higher prices. Why does my wife prefer to shop at Publix? The reason is that Publix offers great customer service. There is a miniature kitchen set up where customers can sample a small portion of a dinner in order to get different cooking ideas. Employees also take groceries to the car for the customer.

Olfactory Senses

How we smell is not just a matter of hygiene, but a marketing tool. -- A light dab of perfume on a woman's neck draws a man in closer. -- An apple pie or cookies in the oven gives a potential home buyer a comforting feeling when first entering the home. -- New rubber floormats in a used car creates a new car smell. Paint Mental Pictures

When you have your audience create a mental image of what you are trying to convey, it can have a far greater effect than any picture you put on a slide. Just as people interpret your words differently, so too will they interpret your picture. "The imagination is far more colorful than the greatest painting."

When pretesting...

Once your students are clearly aware the pretest is NOT for a grade, you must convey that they do not guess at answers. It is better to leave a question blank, than to get it correct by guessing. This establishes a true base.

Annimation

I am very animated when I teach. This allows the students to creatively file the information I am teaching into long-term memory. They can retrieve information by associating it with whatever "crazy" thing I did while teaching it. Did I mention they are having fun learning!?!

Cmil=2kli/Vd This is a formula my electrical class struggled to retain until I swapped "2kli" to "2kil". The formula now reads like this: The doctor said "Take some Cmil to kill VD." Cmil=2kil/Vd They rarely forget it now!
