Activity

It sounds like you blend the delivery and mediation for the students, Harry. What specifically about the web courses do you think encourages student learning more than the lecture format?
Hi Franz, Your focus on assessment is important in order to evaluate effective learning. That is, assessment of student learning, and self assessment of effective teaching methods. What methods of assessment do you use in your classes?
Discussion Comment
Yes, Andy, external resources broaden the context for students. Do you always provide the resources or encourage students to either research or create their own?
Great example, Jeffrey, of how this combination of technology and delivery methods can enrich the learning experience as well as provide opportunity for the demonstration of knowledge.
Discussion Comment
Great points, Jeffrey. Do you also use the board to increase collaboration with your students in dialogue and exchange? If so, how do you think students respond to this kind of approach?
Yes, new technology means that the same information can be presented and supported and mediated in various formats. What challenge does this bring to you as an instructor, given your own style and method of learning?
Discussion Comment
Good points, Franz. Including more students in dialogue helps to enrich the learning experience for everyone. What kinds of strategies do you use with students to engage as many as possible in dialogue and interactive exchange?
Hi Jeffrey, Sometimes it does feel like we need to "entertain" students, however, good teaching is more about addressing and facilitating students in the learning process focused on specific learning outcomes. How do you help your students reach the learning utcomes of your course(s)?
Discussion Comment
And being able to capture the interaction of the group for future reference, Wayne, means that the current group and future groups of students can benefit from the work. Do you think this would have influence on how students view and understand collaborative knowledge building?
Discussion Comment
With or without technology, Carlos, how do you move your students away from so much dependance on you as an instructor into more self-directed accountability?
