Activity

Thank you, Salena, for sharing your experience with blended learning. Although you said you decided to take blended because of scheduling issues, did you find the experience more effective than if it had been totally F2F; would you intentionally choose blended in the future over on ground classes?
Discussion Comment
Concept-mapping is a great use of the interactive white board, Warren. Thank you for sharing that idea. The flexibility of this technology and its "distributive" characteristics mean that ideas and concepts can be deconstructed and then reconstructed collaboratively with students.
Discussion Comment
How have you used the interactive white board specifically in your classes, Tearee?
Well said, Tearee. The essence of the interconnectedness of new technology and the multilayered media possiblities present students with various options but also challenge their thinking in various ways. Do you think, as a teacher, it is important to then use this higher level of skill development to influence how a course is designed and delivered as you move forward?
Great, Tearee, but how do you find you are more active as a teacher? What about guiding and coaching the process? What works best for you?
Yes, Tearee, so do you think existing teachers can develop into currently-relevant teachers and if so, what specifically would you say are the changes that need to be made?
Yes, Donna, and the combination of nomadic characteristics of students and the connectedness made possible by mobile technology, everyone can still fully participate regardless of time or space. What do you see as the main benefits to learning of these developments?
The blended design does create oportunities to make the learning more dynamic than passive, Anwar, great points! What are some ways you build on the dynamics created with your students?
...and of course, Anwar, students have always found ways to cheat, unfortunately. As instructors, our focus must always be the learning process for every student so that we can recognize those students who are struggling, those who are cheating, and those who are doing well.
Discussion Comment
Great points, Anwar. Your examples continue to support the idea that instructional technology does not replace the importance of the instructor and the need for instructors to guide the learning process.
