I LOVE this section... the tools "Setting the Stage" is a literal blueprint for PROACTIVELY taking ownership of your leadership, communications and how you motivate. Eliminating "limiting: mindsets, facilitating innovation and always "structuring" verbiage to become a precursor to the thoughts, ideas, concepts that you want to address, solve or bring attention to. This approach really resonated with me as it relates to owning facilitation of successful communication.

My biggest takeaway from this section is TRANSPARENCY IS KEY!!!!! Being transparent with fears, confusions, hopes, expectations is the pathway of least resistance in effective communication and leadership.

So so true. Self awareness is an essential aspect of understanding and maximizing your fullest potentials as a leader, in communication and in effective communication.

Emotional intelligence is a valued and necessary asset and resource as a leader. Leadership is proactive and often requires the ability to be a relatable and trusted leader.

This section was very helpful in framing-shaping my own personal listening style, strategic listening and just provided a better understanding of the whole science of listening.

'Listening barriers/filters' was very helpful in my own self-assessments and reflection. This is really helpful information that I find myself (in some cases) ensuring that I am honest, constructively critical and open in my self-assessments just to make sure that I'm not holding back my own opportunity to grow.

Great section! I really enjoyed the process of "strategically" thinking about and structuring your questions; Attributes of Powerful Q's, skilled/unskilled Q's, Framing/Reframing/ Softners and Question Traps (noted sections). The real benefit to my future success in communication is actively utilizing the concepts and techniques.

I've grasped an increased understanding of the relationship and strategy of/in open ended questions, powerful questions and asking the right questions to prompt disclosure of exactly what you need or are looking for.

Great information. Both energy and attitude prove to be so influential in our daily lives, encounters, experiences, inner-actions.

My biggest takeaway is taking OWNERSHIP IN LEADERSHIP...

2012 New Hire Failure study:

26% Cannot accept feedback.

23% Cannot or fail to understand and/or manage emotions professionally.

17% Lack the necessary motivation.

15% Have the wrong temperament for the job.

11% Lack the required technical skills.

NEW HIRE FAILURE is directly connected to ATTITUDE AND PERSONAL ENERGY.
