Due to COVID-19, I felt this course very relevant to enhancing my strengths and improving my weaknesses in being an online instructor. From this course I have learned various workload management strategies in dealing with online classes. For example, plannine is crucial and utilizing the ADDIE model of setting up a course is ideal. I would be Analyzing my past courses, Designing a new course to meet students' needs, Development appropriate assignments to expound content, Implementing the course, and then Evaluating the course at the end and also at the mid point. I will start using the Stop, Start, Continue… >>>

Revising a course midway through has not occured to me until COVID-19. I like adding the Start, Stop, Continue evaluation of the course around midterm time.

I like the idea of giving private feedback to each student every week concerning their grade. However, with my large number of online students, it may be more feasible to do this every two weeks instead.

Using a template for common communication is a good idea and something I plan to try.

Due to COVID-19, creating an online community among the students in my courses has become crucial. This course, Online Language: Communicating with Students, has provided me with the guidelines I need to establish and maintain successful communication among my students. Three types of communication were pointed out which were instructor to student, student to instructor, and student to student. Establishing clear guiedlines for communicating with one another in the course should be outlined and made readily available in the syllabus. The instructor should be consisten in feedback and watch the tone of all communication with the student. Know when to… >>>

Due to COVID-19, I have utilized a free texting app so that students don't have my personal phone number. I use it to contact students who I see struggling. It has proven to be very effective and 7 out of the 9 students I reached out to responded within two days where email got no response.

This course reiterates the importance of building online courses with a focus on consistency in the layout, responsive and personal communication, and always keeping the objectives in mind when building the content.

This was a very helpful course to me because it reminded me of some things I learned at a conference a few years ago that I have not yet implemented.  This course has nudged me to start incorporating more positive feedback, to offer peer assessments for online learners, to add an assessment at the beginning of the course to gauge students' knowledge, and also to get a variety of evaluations on the structure of my course.

Something I am going to do differenly in my courses, because of this module, is add a test at the beginning to gauge the students' knowledge and to compare it with their assessment at the end. Also, I will use other forms of evaluation rather than just student evaluations.

This module has made me realize that I need to be more positive with my feedback and stop giving so many comments on papers.
