Activity

I will immplement immediat feedback as a method to reinforce and support student learning. I will teach blending semanitic and eposodic memory to students to build a framework for success. I will teach students to repeat and reflect learned material in order for memory aquisition to be retained and applied as it takes 45 times and 30 consecutive days for long term learning of skills. I will strive to create an envirenment where students can take risks for greater learning and confidence.

I will incorporate applications and illustrations of how content can be used in order to develop working memory which is the ability to store information in the mind and retrieve it when needed. Allowing students to build learning pathways will be acomplished by helping students focus on small sequential learning components in class. I will continue to get to learn my students names during the first day of class and incorporated a 2x 5 card where they can tell me a little bit more about themselves. I learned that instructors can create successful learners by knowing our students.

I learned that 60% of student's success rate is based on studnt's respect for themselves. In order to better engage students and show that the instructor cares, instructors should learn the student's name and something about them in the first class period. Getting to know their background and experience will help show the instructor cares. Allowing students to vent a little bit in class and then redirecting them to class learning will help the instructoer keep charge of the classroom.

Fom the reading I am reminded that in order to help adult learners be successful instructors should ask them about their prior experiances and future goals. It is also important to not allow frustrated learners to continue to grumbel or be negtive during the course of the class. This can turn the whole class into a grumbeling session and detract from learning. It is better to acively listen to the student and then redirect them to the class material being covered when they are upset.
