Thank you for this post, Jason. If he is modeling your behavior because he respects you, you are indeed his mentor.
Thanks for this post, Jason. Sometimes modeling the behavior you want to see in your students is enough. It also helps to share stories you know of or read about that illustrate someone showing high EQ or even low EQ. Examples keep it from getting too personal.
Warren, Being able to keep one's goals in focus is definitely one of the HABE's of successful students. What are some others?
Thanks, Amy. Using role play is a great way to help students experience things in a classroom that they will experience in their careers. Don, Thanks for this post. I like to tell my friends in not-for-profit institutions who feel that making money off students is wrong is that we are the essence of what businesses should be. we provide a needed, valuable service for a fair price. We are edupreneurs.
James, Thanks for this post. What can we do to build the desired HABES in our students who come to us pessimistic?

It is also important to thank folks for the ideas they submit that were not implemented, explaining why.

Kimberly, The team approach to working with students is always best. Keeping the Reps involved, especially in the students' first few terms, really helps. You are fortunate to have a campus leader who also stays involved with individual students. That is not the case at all career colleges. Recognition programs are also an important component of a successful campus. Most career colleges recognize perfect attendance and high honors. Some look for other ways to recognize students for things like "superior attendance" when they are there 90% of the time or for showing improvement over the previous term. Others recognize students… >>>
