Thanks. I have found that there are times during the day when I have to shut my door and close Outlook in order to be productive. I try to limit these "out of touch" sessions to about 90 minutes a few times per day. It seems to work for me.
Thanks, Jacki. What can we do to bring other students up to the same levels of persistance and dedication?

Thanks, William. Outlook can be a very good organizational tool. However, the Outlook user still has to determine prioritites. How do you decide which things on your Outlook schedule or listed in your tasks arethe top priority items?
Thanks, Rick. The students who come to us willing to try new things and open to new ideas are usually pretty successful. What are some things you do to help the students who do not come to us with those attitudes to develop those attitudes?
Thanks, Sondra. Bringing in students and former students to tell their own success stories is another way to accomplish this goal.
Thanks, Sondra. What are some things we can do to inspire students who would not normally do so to reach out for help?
You are absolutely correct, Sondra. Colleges need to be aware that the family influence, especially the spouse, is a major factor in persistence decisions. Are there some specific things your college does to keep the family involved and supportive?

Thanks, George. What do you do to ensure that your career development goals match the goals of your employer or your customers?
Thank you, Sondra. All of the things you mention are "best practices" used by good schools. Keep doing them. One thing you may want to try is to contact the students who have dropped out to find out what you did well and what you may have done better. we learned a lot at my school a few years ago when we did this.

Thank you, Christine. Many "experts" suggest closing Outlook until you are ready to answer emails to avoid the temptation to let each email become an "informal instant priority."
