Activity

Instructor and student introductions are a great practice during a campus tour. Generally speaking, both the tour and conversations with staff or faculty during the tour provide the opportunity for the prospective student to feel more comfortable with their decision to attend school. How do you customize your tours, Tu? Dr. Jean Norris
Thank you for sharing Tu. It looks like you're utilizing student success stories and your own experiences to build value for your students. Keep up the good work! Dr. Jean Norris
Great insights Natasa. Your approach to provide options seems like a good way to try to understand a person's communication preference. I think you're right, sometimes it may take a while to clearly understand a communication preference and it's not only patience that is required but creativity as well. Thank you for your contribution. Dr. Jean Norris
Thank you for sharing Natasa. Knowing your preference and being able to identify and adapt to another person's preferences is a great way to improve your connections with others. Dr. Jean Norris
Now that you know this about yourself, how does this impact you in your role? Dr. Jean Norris
Very well said Huichi. I think this concept has been difficult for many people to accept but to your point, if they aren't meant to be there they will eventually drop out and that impacts your institution. How do you help your students consider all of the options to determine if your school is the right fit? Dr. Jean Norris
Word of mouth is an extremely powerful recruitment tool and it looks like your school is building a solid network to make that happen. Great work! Thank you for sharing. Dr. Jean Norris
It sounds like you're seeking to help the prospective student understand their motivation to attend school, do I have that right? I'm a firm believer in partnering with the student in their decision-making process and asking good questions to help them consider all their options is important. A word of advice you, 'why' questions can cause a person to feel somewhat defensive so rephrasing your question to a 'what' or 'how' question may give you even more information. Thank you for your post Huichi. Dr. Jean Norris
You bring up an excellent point Huichi. The ability to translate your product knowledge into benefits for the other person is extremely important. All of the elements are extremely important and admissions professionals need to be skilled in all four. How can having a great attitude enhance the product knowledge an individual may have? Dr. Jean Norris
Great approach! Thank you for sharing. Dr. Jean Norris
