Excellent insights, Mike! Taking the time to develop a relationship and get to know your students on a personal level is essential to positively impacting those relationships. And you're right, today's students are incredibly savvy, have a great deal of information at their fingertips, and an abundance of technology at their disposal. And yet, many of them crave the personal attention that is offered when another person takes the time to get to know them and their story. Keep up the excellent work. Dr. Jean Norris
Kelly, Great place to start and easy too! It's amazing how a smile can really shine through in your telephone conversations and help to establish a connection and level of comfort for your student. Let us know how it impacts your telephone communications! Dr. Jean Norris

Jason, Thank you for sharing your personal awareness. This is so important because when you are aware of the situations that you might make assumptions about, you have the opportunity to pause and choose a different response. It sounds like you are making a concentrated effort to find out more about the students unique situation rather than guessing that it is just like another student's. Keep up the good work. Dr. Jean Norris
