About me

Activity

This course has really reminded me to take a step back and be more engaging and flexible.

Human beings are complex individuals and every person is different from the other. It is difficult to predict how each of them will respond to a course. One game that appeals to the intelligence of one learner might be too challenging for another one. Again, someone may comprehend an idea very well during the training but may not be able to apply his knowledge to solve a real-world problem.

I agree, very thought provoking. I have had many veterans in my classrooms. I wish I would have watched this last video sooner. We take for granted that everyone should be expected to move at a same pace.

Authentic learning engages all the senses allowing students to create a meaningful, useful, shared outcome. They are real life tasks, or simulated tasks that provide the learner with opportunities to connect directly with the real world.

Establish and maintain a positive classroom community throughout the entire school year. Encourage respect for one another, the use of appropriate language, and pro-active social skills.

Remember, that discretion should be used when discussing the needs of the student with disabilities with others. A conversation with the student prior to any of the above strategies can determine how comfortable the student is with sharing information about his or her disabilities. The sharing of information is not meant to put the student with disabilities “on show”, but help others understand what the student needs in order to participate and learn in… >>>

Soft skills are transferrable skills. so they can be used in many differennt types of jobs. They are personal qualities and attitudes that can help you to work well with others and make a postitive contribution to the organizations that your work for.

However, this isnt to say that technical skills and knowledge are not  also important, particularly computer skills. Bur remember that technical skills can be taught more easily than soft skills, which tend to be either personal characteristics or skills that have bee fine-tuned over a period of time.

When I see that my class is losing energy and motivation, and morale is beginning to drop, this is when I implement team building strategies and learning activities ( a few of which have been described in this class). It works!!  Teambuilding is about providing the skills and training and resources that your students need, so that they can work in harmony. When this is achieved students will have a clear purpose, such as improving a certain skill (ie medical terminology).  I guess, I am trying to say that peer work is awesome!

We all have a way in which we best learn.  Odds are, every student in your class has a different preferred learning style, which can make it difficult for you to be the most effective teacher.  However, by trying to incorporate various methods into your teaching, you may be able to reach the majority of your students.  At the college level, it is expected that students have an idea of how to adapt to most teachers, although it cannot hurt to help them out a little!

A flipped classroom is one that inverts the typical cylce of content and application so that students gain the knowledge before class and instructors can guide students to actively and interactively clarify and apply that knowledge during class.  Students are more active participants in learning and thier interaction increases and students learn from one another. With more opportunities for students to apply their knowledge and therefore demonstrate their ability to use it, gaps in their understanding become visiable to bothe themselves and the instructor.

Developing, delivery and evaluation of training or instruction for students is the key to our students success in the class room. Being aware of these things while teaching takes preparation, skill and felxibility. The goal is to make the outcome for our students a positive and fruitful experience.

Discussion Comment
Stress is basically defined as an applied force or system of forces that tends to strain or deform a body. It is usually caused by something that is out of the ordinary from everyday life, things like tests, family problems and loss of job. Today students have a lot of stress because of a lot of different reasons. There are many things that cause stress for college students; school-related issues, relationships, and peer pressure.
