About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Sadie, This is a very good point for all instructors to be aware of and make sure to implement. A well prepared syllabus will help the course to get off to a good start and set the student at ease because they know the course expectations, polices and requirements. Gary

Hi Bindu, Good point. Little rewards, encouragement and support really help with the establishment of rapport and respect. Knowing someone cares about your success is important for students and when that person is an instructor the value of caring goes even higher. Gary
Hi Bill, Good to hear about your successes with such a diverse student body. Thanks for sharing your strategies with us. You are fortunate to a diverse medium (food preparation) that enables you to capture their attention. Gary
Hi Michael, Good way to show student support. They really do need to know they have someone they can count on and wants them to be successful if they will put forth the effort. Gary
Hi Eric, So true. By being clear it sets the students at ease and they can get settled into the course much easier and focus on the learning that is going to occur. Gary
