Hi Bindu, Good advice for all individuals, including faculty and students alike. Respect is so important to establish with students and to earn from them. Once respect is there it is easier to build on it to the point that rapport is developed and professional growth is enjoyed. Gary
Hi Raj, I agree with your comments about the need for instructors to stay current with their field and instructional delivery. By doing so you will enhance both your efficiency and effectiveness as an instructor. Gary
Hi Carmen, Good way to hold the students accountable for receiving the information about the course as well as the syllabus. As you say it gets them looking at the syllabus so they know what the course policies, expectations and requirements are and how they will be enforced. Gary
Hi Joann, I like your first sentence. It really is an honor to be able to share your knowledge and expertise with your students. You get to help them create futures for themselves while impacting their lives. We need to always remember that as we prepare for our classes. Gary
Hi Shawn, I like to use case studies and problem situations in my teaching as well. These activities really engage the students and increase their excitement about the field. In addition, the point about giving them additional examples of how to deal with situations that they will encounter in their careers is a good one. The more content and examples they have to fall back on the better prepared they will be. Gary
Hi Lori, Your comments are right on in terms of presenting challenges for instructors. The college must provide resources that reflect the fields that are being studied and supports that help students learn. When these things are missing a void is created for the students. Gary
Hi Joann, Right you are about providing support to students in a way that can help them be successful and that all faculty needs to be on board with this concept. When this happens there is a flow to the learning paths of the students that continues throughout their entire course sequence. Gary
Hi Patricia, Good plan for reaching your students and providing them with learning opportunities based upon their learning preferences. These efforts will help to keep them engaged and focused on the course content. Gary
Hi Robert, Thank you for sharing how you keep your students involved in current events in relation to your subject matter. They need to be helped to see application and relevancy to what they are learning. Gary
Hi Travis, This is a great way to show your students the connection between the classroom and the world they are going to soon enter. The more application and relevancy they can see easier their transition is going to be into their careers. Gary
