"The best way to manage students that I have found is to be assertive, consistent, effectively listen to students, and always be kind." I would like to add professional.

I have found success by discussing the outcome of their efforts in class and how it relates to the path toward employment. Using discussions, start with their goals and work "backwards" through the steps and objectives of the class to achieve their goals.  During that discussion I find two things happen.  First, the students imediately realize the class objectives and relevency, and second it gives me an idea of the best learning methods to use in presenting the material.  Students quickly gain ownership in the subject matter because they now feel somewhat familiar with it.  They are more willing to actively… >>>

Blended learning will be coming to our campus in the near future.  This course has shown me aspects of this type of instruction that I had not thought of.  I have a better idea of how remote learning can be delivered and monitored, and now I see where/how/when the interaction takes place.  I plan to use much of this when the new program gets to my campus.

I have a question however, If I am replying via email to a student could I group students with the same question and respond to them as a group?

I have learned that I need to separate feedback from references to me as a person from what I contribute to the company. I also learned that I need to be able to accept positive feedback directly instead of down playing it.
This course showed the changes in the new structure of today's business. This will be valuable information as I change the primary focus from growing my own self to helping others to improve and become more valuable to the company.
I have had good success changing the question type and mixing it up. Different style learners have different style questions they relate to more effectively. I try to make sure that one question leads into another smoothly, even though the type of question changes. I would like to be better at this, and I know this course will help improve my skills in this area of class delivery.

No matter how correct or incorrect a student response to a question, their effort to respond is an open door for the instructor to respond. First I point out the positives or the correct line of his/her thought process. Even if the response is incorrect the instructor can lead with additional questions and turn it into a group discussion. This gives in my opinion the original student the feeling of leadership in the discussion since they were the first to make the attempt to repond. I find it makes them more secure in the classroom and more willing to continue… >>>

As an instructor, I have developed what I call a 'Toolbox' of delivery methods that include using 'students that get it.' I will get other students involved because at this point, everyone wants to be the hero that got through to the challenged student. It is at this point that I become a traffic controller so that there is order, but this seldom fails.
I know this is going to help me a lot. Very often in class I get tied up with rules and procedures. Although important, if only a few students need attention in this area, I will schedule time to meet with them to discuss expectations for improvement. It's sort of like not addressing emails instantly, and should not be a first priority.
Positive interactions that are results oriented, and consistancy among every staff member who interacts with any student, I believe promotes an atmosphere that students want to be around.
