Students need to engage in strategic decisionmaking when designing a résumé.  They need to be able to clearly justify why they chose a particular format.  The format needs to reflect their working experience.

Students need to be reminded that when designing a résumé, they should make strategic decisions and clearly articulate what drives their decision to use a particular stratgey...not just choose one because it feels comfortable.

I learned that the resume should be formatted in a way that is specific tp the job desired and so that employers can parse the document easily.  I like the way the resume should be sectioned in a manner that information is placed in sections divided to help the person conducting the interview peruse it easily.

Connectedness is key.  Students need to know that their  career coaches have heard, understood, and plan to work diligently to provide them services they need.  Helping students reflect and set their own goals for achieving job seeking sucess is important.

Flipping the script and asking students what they would advise is a good method to get them to come up with several options for job seeking methods.

Providing constructive feednack to students is important.  Paraphrasing or restating what they say helps them see that you are actively listening to their concerns,

Listening and  understanding students is critical.  It is important that they understand that sending out a lto of job applications does not ensure getting a job,  They need to focus on improving their resumes and applications so that even if they send out a  few, they possess the wuality employers are looking for.

Both a presentation resume and a video resume are important.  A presentation resume can be in the form of a powerpoint.  Video resumes are live recordings and can add a more personal touch.

Promote online presence in multiple formats to push out any negative pst.

Teaching students to focus on key words when job searching is critical.  Students need to make sure not to focus on quantity but quality.
