The are many variables to consider in assessing stundents. The key one s for me are the ones that best get at are the skills gaps that exist at an organization. Nevertheless, it is imortant to be deliberate and mindful of the measur'es design and the needs of the organziation.
I learned the importance of feedback loops to bridge teacher and student. I als learned that if we as instructors are to be deliberate in how we choose assessments, we should expect students to be deliberate too. As teachers we shoud be informed an the latest meaures that help assess objectively but couple the quant with qual. I woud like to go beyond what I learned here to consider how understanding of reliability and validity can help me determibe which measures are scientifically sound.
Questions are strategic in that they draw out responses from students that help to meet certain learning goals. Questions may help with clarifying, accuracy, precision, to name a few.
Instructors need to hold their learning preference in check and not rely on to teach because it is the style most comfortable. On other hand, students will benefit from activities that accommodate learning differs from the prefered style. Both teachers and students need to show flexibility.
