Handouts should be provided to students to get the most from guest speakers  

 

My takeaway is the student's first impression. If they see an intuitive sturucture, they are inclined to stay engaged. 

 

1. Content 2. Question assumptions, 3 And learing about oneself 

 

I was really struck by the instructor at Harvard that highlighted her expecation about participation. She said she does want to hear about what you learned the night before. She wants to know the connections made in class. It call for more higer ordeer thinking skills. 

 

It is amazing how little things like fixing someone's collar sends important meta message about the instructor and perhaps the climate.

 

My main takeaway is that instructors should never stop learning and improving thier skills and trade. 

 

My big take away is the importance of staying current on new pedagogies, technoligies, change in demographics and needs. I would extend the point by anticipating the future. 

 

I relearned the cimpoirtance of crafting clear and concise objectives that helps inform many other tasks that follow such as the selection of activities and excercises. 

 

I appreciated the vlaue of organization.  I should keep everything in a digital folder adn easily retrievable. 

 

There is a principle that diagnosos precede prescription. Altough it may be generally conected to medicine, it is not different in teaching a class. The teacher needs to diagnose the students level of knowlegde, familiarity with the topic, etc. as a means to informing class design and delivery.
