Overall, there wasn't anything new for me in this module specifically, however I do feel it would be helpful for me to be more proactive in reaching out to students individually who tend to procrastinate. Our terms are only 5 weeks so there is a ton of information and work to be completed by adult learners with a lot of other responsibilities whose living situations and priorities can change without notice - like with COVID-19.  We already have a built-in record keeping system "Facutly Journal", which I should consult more often to see what other instructors have notated on a… >>>

I learned the difference between conducting synchronous and asychronus discussions and when each would be more appropriate. Synchronus discussions should be limited by both number of attendees, topic and time and allow for some brief chit chat to help participants establish repoire with one another.  A follow up summary would be a good idea to be email out on the main concepts. Asynchonous is more common and can be more in depth and cover all topics for the current week/module. Being consistent is very important and that includes the weekly Home Page that I create - a feature recently added by the College I teach for and which works great - and to also use Announcements effectively. As an Online instructor for over 7 years, the basic guidelines for reviewing course content, modules, due dates and so forth are not new to me. However, terms such as synchronous and asyncrynous were new to me so I did further reseach on them and realized that our course content is mostly asynchronous using discussion for the most part. Students can navigate pretty easily and a lot of our content is very interactive and gives immediate feedback for grading/performance.
