Hi Jennifer, Yes, it should have been handled differently. First and foremost, if cell phones are allowed in class, the voicemail should not be allowed to be played out loud, this is disruptive. These two students should have been removed from the class immediately and spoken to. There should be some policies in place at the institution that can prevent a situation as such, such as a no cell phone policy in the classroom. Patricia

It is kind of along the lines like when you say things to students, there are some students you can say whatever to, and these students are not offended, but there are other students you have to REALLY think how you are going to say things.
