Boosting Postsecondary Education Performance

Jeff Joerres, Chairman and CEO of ManpowerGroup, speaks about boosting postsecondary education performance as an imperative for America to remain competitive in the global economy.

I agree with Mr. Joerres.  Now more than ever, we need to eduate our country to ensure we remain competive not only on a national level but on a global level.  Their are jobs out their that simply are not filled because people lack the proper edcation so we tend to give those opportunites to other countries.  The individuals that work within the educational system need to take owndership and do whatever it takes to get our students prepared for this constant changing world in which we live in.

I completely agree, with our ever changing world and economy, we as educators have to grow with the world to stay up to date with students needs. Staying competive on a global level will help us suceed in all areas espcially with knowledge of job opportunities and prepare those students for them.

Isnt it insightful to see someone make comment about all the failings of our education system ?  Like it or not the problems have been our own doing in building a education system with a much greater focus on social diversity than industry and science skills. The two political parties in the USA have extreamly different philosophy about education and the skills needed. Since Mr Joerres has made the point that we are failing in these Education playgrounds maybe we should look at who has controled the Education process the last 50 years....Liberal philosophy championed by the Democrat party is wholly responsible. Conservatative Republican representation has for all pratical purposes given up. Likely those listening to his words will rally to promote more of the programs and initiatives that have put is in this downward slide.  Easy to point out the problems mr. Joerres, do you have any suggested solutions?

Don't forget that in order to attract today's students that the educational environment must be up-to-date, dynamic instructors who are supported by appropriate technology to drive our educational efforts.  We cannot always point our fingers at others for our difficulties.
