How can your classroom become dynamic?

Think of ways in which you can upscale your classroom to be less task and textbook driven and more thought and application oriented?  How "risky" is that for the instructor?  What checks and balances MUST you include to facilitate that kind of learning environment?

I find that by asking open-ended questions that ecourage dialog and conversation, with instructor-guided feedback, is a useful way to get students to interact and stretch beyond their own beliefs or intellectual boundaries.  It is important for the instructor to be well-versed in the topic and have the abilty to guide the discussion without losing control or going into "lecture" mode.  I find that I can learn from students using this method and learn to stretch a little myself!

I agree. Open ended questions as well as group discussion and then elaboration among the classmates.

It brings about a healthy debate, which enhances learning - peers learn best from peers.

I also encourage students to use their electronic devices to prove their points. Getting away from the textbooks sometimes enhances their desire to learn. (we live in an electronic world now)

I use to view the computer as this giant Abyss,  now I see it as this unlimited wealth of information.  Learning to navigate it has been a challenge for me.  Interaction just puts me in awe.  "The world wide web" title sure seems appropriate.
