Ed 204 Tomorrow's Learning Environment Today

I enjoyed this course, because it gave me some insight to what types of activities I can develop for my classes that includes more cooperative and collaborative learning. I am doing some activtivities now, however, I think I can incorporate more, based on what I learned in the course.

Because my personal education was based on traditional teaching methods, I am having to adjust my way of thinking about how students today process information. The students are bright, and they know how to go through the steps sometimes to get the correct answer or results, however, it has been a challenge for me to get them to actually process what they have done, and to think critically about what they have done. Through more collaborative and cooperative activities, perhaps the students can be their own creators and teachers.

I enjoyed it too and was amazed at the short attention span. I have a new class coming up in a few days and have added a "stand By your Quote" and BINGO activity to break up the power point. I ook foreward to seeing wht they think of this class compared to the last one I taught where I wasn't allowed to do anything original.

I think these courses are needed to help the instructors better help the students to succeed.

I liked the course and found it challenging. It offered great teaching ideas that are innovative. I like the idea of teaching with simulation such as using board games to engage the students and make learning fun.  It also made me aware of the importance of classroom environment and how simply reaarring a classroom can impact learning.

I also appreciate the information on memory enhancers and retention. I will focus on highlighting material at the start and end of class and more importantly, take time to debrief after lecture sessions to assess learning.

I also found this course very interesting. Although I already use some techniques to encourage collaborative learning in my classes the course gave me some more ideas I could implement. My classes involve practicing individual skills and it is difficult to create group activities but I encourage students to give each other feedback on each other's work or to give each other suggestions on ways to accomplish a task.
