ED208 ADULT LEARNING THEORIES

Insightful!  Povided me with a historical perspective of Adult Learning Theory and the knowledge to better evaluate my students.

I just finished ED 208 training too.

I found the material in the course very interesting as it shows the base theories that have help developed effective teaching techniques that are used in the classroom today.  It was surprising to see how each theory tried to explain and situate the multiple and very diverse adult population.  Hence the different approaches necessary to better plan any lecture.

I find it is so important to get to know the adult learner on a 1-to-1 basis and to genuinely care about their desire to increase their knowledge and skills. Behind every adult student is a personal sacrifice to be in the course, and feel that this new learning is worth their time invested.

It has to make a difference for them to continue.

It's helpful; it gave an insight of the historical background of the Adult learning. I would also like to see new reference that supports the Adult learning in this high-technology era.

I notice a lot of online learning platforms offered by for-profit and non-profit university, that addresses the adult learners need for accelerated programs in completion new acquired knowledge/ skills. AIU is one of the universities that offer the student “Intellipath” platform that assesses student’s prior skills and knowledge.

I agree-I just finished the course and there is a ton of appropriate information here that makes it easier to deal with and understand the adult learner: motivation, where they are coming from, etc.  It was refreshing to find out that we must be realistic when working with them, in that they need to be shown WHY the information is important and relevant to what their end learning goal is.  Having been (and still am!) an adulct learner, I find it very disturbng to realize I have wasted time on trying to learn/absorb a subject or information that doesn't address whatever I hoped or was led to believe it was useful for.  Good course, overall.
